Pre-Match Facts and Thoughts:
Unable to bounce back with an immediate win mid-week in the Champions League, Arsenal will be out to get back to winning ways on Sunday against a shaky Brighton. Brighton have been unable to keep a clean sheet thus far in the Premier League, a fact that should fill Arsenal fans and players with seasonal joy (’tis the season and all that). An Arsenal attack much criticised this season for not being at their best are still to find the consistency they had for the majority of our last campaign, this fixture might help along the way.
With the pair of 8s of Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard starting to re-find form, the likes of Martinelli, Jesus, and Saka need to start contributing with the goals we know they are capable of providing. Martinelli has been lacking in output this season, offering a measly 2 goals and 2 assists, and needs to start showing what we know he is capable of. I predict Trossard to start over Martinelli, the latter whom felt something against Villa and was not a part of the travelling squad midweek.
Brighton also find themselves short on personnel, especially when compared with their squad of last season that got ravaged by bigger clubs (Trossard being probably the best value any club has got out of a Brighton signing, thanks Edu). Their miraculous move for Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona is not going so well, with the once-wonderkid set to spend 3 months on the sideline with injury. So far this season they have also lost both of their starting fullbacks, Tariq Lamptey and Pervis Estupinan, to long term injury.
I will go bold my prediction and go for a 3-0 Arsenal victory. Brighton are lacking both firepower and defensive solidity, a seemingly perfect setup for a comfortable Arsenal win.
