✍🏼 Pre-Match Ramblings

Arsenal’s title hopes and season as a whole are at a breaking point coming into this match. A shocking defeat at home against Aston Villa last weekend followed by a devastating loss at the Allianz to end their conquest in Europe has seen the hopes of silverware for Arsenal this season crumble. A slim shot at the Premier League is all that remains for Arsenal, and with huge games coming up against Spurs, Chelsea, and Manchester United, you can’t help but feel anything other than 3 points in this game would constitute the final nail in the coffin.

Whilst already relying on Manchester City to drop points and also needing victories against the three teams mentioned above, the chances of Arsenal winning the title are slim, but as they say, take it game by game. Wolves away in recent years has been a good fixture for Mikel Arteta, with his only loss at the Molineux being down to one of the most ridiculous red cards and penalties you’ll ever see.

Sorry to remind you of that…

Moving on, I would like to see some sensible rotation for this fixture. The likes of Ben White and Bukayo Saka are visibly tired, they seem to be running on fumes. Perhaps now is the time to give them a rest? I would like to see Tomiyasu starting at right back, with Kiwior returning at left back. Gabriel Jesus is more than capable of holding down the right wing, with Trossard and Havertz completing the front three. A common theme of this and past seasons is the manager seemingly not trusting his fringe players. It may be too little too late for this season, but this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

A game like this is a story we’ve all seen before as Arsenal fans. Facing a team in dire need of a win, in seemingly poor form, we all know how this can end. Let’s hope it’s different this time.
