✍🏼 Pre-Match Ramblings

Arsenal look to be back to themselves after serving Sporting their first loss since August, and the first loss at home in over a year, midweek in the Champions League. West Ham will be fearful coming into this game, as the prospect of facing a resurgent Arsenal hunting down Liverpool does not fill one with hope.

West Ham themselves have been able to pull off some good results this season, most recently a 0-2 away win at Newcastle, as well as a 2-1 beating of Ten Hag’s Man United last month. Most of their results aren’t as fruitful, with the Hammers losing most of the games you’d expect them to. They lost to Villa, City, Spurs, as well as Nottingham Forest, and were held to draws by Everton, Brentford, and Fulham. They certainly come into this game as the underdogs, especially given their home record against the Gunners.

Declan Rice seems unfazed at facing his old club after we battered them 0-6 at their place last season, with the former Hammers captain scoring an absolute worldie. He, of course, didn’t celebrate (utter work nonsense if you ask me). Let’s just not mention the two losses we had against West Ham last season, as you will probably remember.

This could be a big gameweek at the top of the table, with Liverpool welcoming a Man City in crisis to Anfield. This is probably the only time in my life I will want a Man City win. The momentum of Liverpool is undeniable, and for them to be beaten at home by a struggling City may prove a big blow to their confidence. We need to see that gap to the league leaders start to decrease as soon as possible if we want to instill a proper feeling of hope that we can take the title this year.
