✍🏼 Pre-Match Ramblings

These games really will not stop, and I am definitely feeling the fatigue as I imagine the players are. We players and bloggers really shouldn’t be expected to be performing as frequently as we are. If anything, I have it harder than the players because I don’t have any rotation options… Anyway, onto the game.

We haven’t been to Turf Moor in over a season; the last time we were there we battered them 5-0 whilst they were languishing in 19th place. They went on to go down, of course. At the time we couldn’t stop scoring, having scored six goals against West Ham a few days before. Now, we can’t start conceding, how the turn tables!

Burnley’s league position is quite as bad as it was the last time we played them, but they are still hovering around the relegation places with only three wins in nine games. Those three wins came against Wolves, who looked nailed on to go down, Leeds who sit one place above Burnley, and Sunderland. A Burnley win here would be a massive upset.

Arsenal went the entire month of October without conceding a single goal in the six games that they played, the first time this has ever been done. Arteta will be hoping that this streak will continue, although he may also hope that we can start scoring more goals from open play. I’m sure you all saw the tables circulating midweek that showed the league if only open play goals counted. Thankfully open play goals do count, but the stat is worrying, especially if our set play goals start to dry up (they did last season after Christmas).
