✍🏼 Pre-Match Ramblings

Are you a top or are you a bottom? Tomorrow you can be a switch as 1st in the league take on 20th in the league in what is sure to be a thriller. I’m not proud of this as an opener to the ramblings, but with the amount I’m having to write I think I’m going slightly mental.

Arsenal bounced back from a devastating loss against Villa with a midweek win against Club Brugge and all but secured a Top 2 finish in the UCL Leage Phase. The last time we lost a game, which was against Liverpool earlier in the season, we went on an 18 game unbeaten run – let’s hope that this game is win #2 in a similar run.

Wolves haven’t won a game so far this season in the Premier League, and their only 2 wins came in the EFL cup against Everton and West Ham, so the idea of Wolves getting their first win of the campaign against the league leaders away from home is completely unprecedented… or is it?

Arteta will need to rotate again here given the state of the squad, I mean just look at that injury list. MLS is nailed on to start here, and if Timber isn’t fit it looks like White will be asked to start for the fourth consecutive match which comes with lots of risk given he has only recently started to play first team football again. Gyokeres came off relatively early against Brugge after failing to make an impact, so one would imagine he is set to start against Wolves.

Gyokeres needs to get firing before Havertz returns in the New Year or he will struggle to get starts given Arteta’s very public love of Havertz playing up front in his system. He is facing stiffer competition with the freshly risen Jesus returning to the pitch midweek. If the Brazillian can capture any amount of form then Gyokeres may fall even further down the pecking order.
