✍🏼 Pre-Match Ramblings

Both Arsenal and the visiting Atleti find themselves 90 minutes away from a Champions League final, the main difference being that this is the only thing Atleti have left to play for this season, whereas Arsenal are on the cusp of a first Premier League title in over 20 years.

Simeone, as expected, played an extremely rotated team at the weekend away at Valencia yet dispatched the home team 2 goals to nil to further cement their place in the Top 4. They have already qualified for the Champions League next season, and with Barca on the cusp of winning La Liga, this leaves the Champions League as their final chance of a trophy this season.

Arsenal also rotated at the weekend, but in a slightly different manner to Atleti. We saw Calafiori and Saka return to the starting lineup and both players instantly made a huge difference to the way we play. We also saw Zubimendi rested for what felt like the first time all season, and Lewis Skelly get his first start in midfield (which he absolutely smashed). Saka coming off at half time tells me that he is starting tomorrow, just when we need him the most. He played his best game all season against Fulham with a goal and assist and a lovely bit of linkup with Gyokeres. If we see even 80% of that performance tomorrow, our chances of winning will go up substantially.

I have seen a queue of over 2500 to access the ticket exchange all week; tickets to this game are gold dust. For the first time ever, Arsenal fans could walk out of the Emirates knowing that we are headed for a Champions League final, and every fan wants to a part of that.

The Fulham performance was everything we needed and more in that we got our goal difference up and we were able to bring off key players before the final whistle – something which we have been unable to do recently. For those lucky enough to be in the stadium tomorrow, pick up where we left off on Saturday. Bring that energy, cheer the team off at half time no matter the game state. We are 90 minutes away from a Champions League final. Let’s fucking do this.
